Enterprise resource planning policy
Purpose
The Enterprise resource planning (ERP) policy articulates the sector’s approach for ERP initiatives to ensure alignment with whole of sector digital objectives and to maximise the value of ERP investments for Queensland Government.
Policy statement
Queensland Government agencies will take a collective and unified approach to ERP systems across the sector, and ensure investments in ERP capabilities are responsible, effective and deliver sustainable value.
Policy benefits
The Queensland Government is committed to harnessing the potential of ERP systems to drive digital transformation, support efficient government operations and deliver better services to Queenslanders.
A coordinated and collaborative approach to modernising ERP solutions will provide agencies with greater opportunity to leverage investments, standardise solutions and designs, and share learnings from project implementations.
The resulting benefits for government will include:
- improved service efficiency through automated and streamlined processes with increased flexibility for change
- reduced total cost of ownership through lower service and licensing fees
- simplified architecture that is contemporary, more scalable and sustainable across government
- greater data sharing and enhanced insights, informing better decisions.
Policy requirements
1. Agencies must align ERP initiatives and investments to the whole of Queensland Government ERP Strategy
The Queensland Government ERP Strategy’s vision is “a collective and unified approach to maximise value of ERP investments for Queensland Government”.
The strategy promotes cross-agency collaboration to ensure alignment of future ERP investments with whole of sector, strategic objectives and on creating a clear pathway to coordinate the modernisation of ERP platforms.
Alignment of product and shared template solutions (where feasible) will enable shared ERP investment and inform the State’s collective approach to major ERP vendor engagement.
