Queensland interpreter card

The Queensland Interpreter card makes it easier for you to determine whether your customer needs an interpreter.

All Queensland Government and government funded community organisations can order a card by emailing MulticulturalQ@maq.qld.gov.au.

Giving the card to your customer

  • Make sure you know the customer's language/dialect.
  • Write the name of the language used by the customer clearly on the front of the card in English.
  • Give them the card and explain how to use it (you may need an interpreter to help with this).

If your customer presents a card

Contact the interpreter service provider used by your organisation and ask for a National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) credentialed interpreter who speaks the language shown on the interpreter card.
