Find out more about the Disaster and Emergency Services Reform.
The future Queensland Fire Department will move to a new contemporary Albion headquarters in 2025.
The move makes way for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES), which will become the Queensland Fire Department (QFD) in June 2024, to set itself up for future success.
The new office at 240 Sandgate Road, Albion, will bring together more than 500 QFD state level executives and corporate staff currently located across offices at Kedron, Albion and Brisbane city.
QFD will continue to have a presence at the Kedron Emergency Services Complex along with the Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Police Service.
The move to the new building, formerly the TAB building and marketed as Hudson Common, is prompted in part due to machinery of government changes and reforms including the Inspector General Emergency Management review and a number of internal reviews.
QFES has also been considering its future options for many years with issues around accommodating growth at the Kedron facility and the need to lease other properties in Brisbane.
Consolidating the headquarters and three other office locations will deliver better value for money, provide room to grow and enable better collaboration between staff.
The building is currently being refurbished and will be a contemporary, 5-Star (NABERS) green office with purpose-designed workspaces. It is located 4 kilometres from the CBD and is close to transport infrastructure. It is part of a wider urban renewal of the Albion area including the proposed Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Breakfast Creek Indoor Sport Centre.
QFES has appointed Cox Architecture as the lead designer for the fit out of the Hudson Common building.
