Your payroll details will change over from QFES Aurion to QPS Aurion next pay period, and your last access date to QFES Aurion will be on 25 October 2023.
I understand there has been some conversations occurring about moving from your current location earlier than planned.
Unfortunately, due to the ICT transition and a number of other factors which form part of the MOU and Schedule, this is unable to occur until further advice.
Whilst this may be frustrating for some of you, it is important that any changes to work location occurs within the appropriate and planned timeframes so as not to cause unnecessary and avoidable disruptions.
If you have any concerns in relation to this, please email RIT.DMProjects@police.qld.gov.au
QPS has advised corporate cards can be activated on receipt and staff should start receiving cards this week.
There are three ICT Transition Q&A sessions this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. You only need to attend one of these sessions. They are designed to walk you through the ICT transition checklists, ‘Get ready’ (before transition) and ‘Get started’ (after transition) and answer any specific questions.
The Get Ready ICT Transition Checklist (below) provides a summary of ICT activities that must be completed by midday on your assigned Transition Day, either Tuesday 24 October or Thursday 26 October.
We will be distributing a factsheet to provide instructions on how to:
Today, the QFES RIT held a Thank You Event for the transitioning DM staff. We had a pretty good turn out!
Commissioner Leach, A/DC Greenfield, D/C Wassing, A/DC Marcus, and even the Honourable Mark Ryan, Minister for Police and Corrective Services and Minister for Fire and Emergency Services all came along to thank our staff, hand out some well deserved certificates medals and steal some mini quiches.
Ms Jane Zsombok was presented with a Distinguished Service Medal (DSM), QFES Medal and clasps for Diligent and Ethical Service and Ms Janelle McCarthy was presented with a QFES Medal.
Transitioning staff were also presented with a Commissioners Certificate and thank you letter as well as a QFES Challenge Coin. We recognise, a number of staff were unable to attend the event due travel, or for some they were flying the DM flag at the LGAQ Conference helping to give our stakeholders assurance as we progress through this change. If staff were unable to attend the event, the transition team are arranging delivery of your certificate, letter and coin to be presented to you as soon as possible.
Thank you to the QFES RIT Team who put the event together.
For those who don't know him, we thought we would do a quick introduction for Ben Marcus, EMCC's new AC (currently relieving DC)!
Ben brings 35 years of policing experience across a variety of disciplines and regional areas to emergency management. As part of the newly formed Emergency Management and Coordination Command, his role is to enhance locally led community safety and disaster management.
He has experience as the District Disaster Coordinator for Logan, Scenic Rim, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Southern Downs and Goondiwindi local government areas. Ben has also served as the Executive Officer to the Queensland Disaster Management Committee and performed cyclone recovery and reconstruction for the Queensland Reconstruction Authority.
He has completed studies at the University of Cambridge, Queensland University of Technology, Charles Sturt University, University of Southern Queensland and is a graduate of police executive programs in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Ben is a recipient of the Exemplary Conduct Medal, National Emergency Medal and the Australian Police Medal.
We have a few members of the RIT DM Team and the EMCC attending the 127th Annual LGAQ Conference in Gladstone this week.
Which of course means we have the obligatory plane photos. And as always, our resident selfie Queen is also making the most of her time at the Conference. See below.
This year's theme is "Stronger Councils Stronger Communities" and it presents an opportunity for all stakeholders to talk through critical issues impacting their community, make connections and share disaster and emergency management knowledge.
See link for full conference program https://www.lgaq.asn.au/downloads/file/558/2023-annual-conference-program
There are still a number of positions being advertised within Emergency Management and Coordination Command.
Please check out SmartJobs to see if there are any new roles that you might be interested in.
