Human rights certificates and compatibility statements
To comply with the Human Rights Act 2019, a member of Parliament must provide a Human rights statement of compatibility with any Bill they introduce in the Legislative Assembly (Parliament). They must provide a Human rights certificate with any subordinate legislation they table.

A Human rights statement of compatibility states whether, in the opinion of the member introducing the Bill, it is compatible with human rights.
The member's staff (for private members' Bills) or departmental officers (for government Bills) prepare the statement.
