Entry level cyber training

Entry level training helps you develop your cyber skills. These courses are partially funded.

These courses will help you build your skills and progress in the cyber field.

About the program

This course will build and further develop your IT skills and knowledge for entry level cyber operational roles. It is delivered by TAFE Queensland.

Study mode

  • hybrid of online and in person.

Cost

  • Fully funded by Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business.

Who can enrol

Queensland Government employees (permanent or temporary).

The program is designed for individuals with the following experience or qualifications:

  • Staff with IT work experience (e.g. level 1 IT support staff of more).
  • Certificate III Information Technology or university degree in IT or similar.

or

Demonstrated personal passion for IT or cyber (e.g. personal projects, volunteering, capture the flag competitions).

Time commitment

Duration: 12 months

In person class time: 1 day at TAFE Queensland South Bank campus

Online class time: 2 evening classes per week, both 3 hours long

Study: Approximately 10 hours of self-motivated study per week.

The Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to address fast changing cyber security needs.

Who can enrol

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be an IT Queensland Government employee (permanent or temporary)
  • Have one of the following:
    • Relevant qualification at diploma level within the last 6 years AND a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience,
    • Minimum of a bachelor's degree completed within the last 6 years in a relevant discipline
    • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience

Relevant experience/qualifications include the following fields:

  • Computer Science
  • IT
  • Information Systems
  • Business Data Analytics
  • Software Engineering
  • Cyber Security
