Today is the 166th anniversary of Queensland leaving New South Wales to become its own State.
No one understands Queenslanders better than the Queensland public service, and everyday your efforts are delivering for Queensland.
This Queensland Day, I want to take the opportunity to thank you for your hard work and commitment to delivering for Queenslanders everywhere.
Well good morning everyone, it’s Queensland Day and what a great reason to celebrate. 166 years ago today, we said goodbye to New South Wales and I reckon that’s worth pausing and saying, you beauty. I also think it’s worth the opportunity for me to say thank you to you. No one does more for Queensland than the Queensland public service, so thanks very much. Take the opportunity today to reflect on what you do for a great State. Above all, tonight reflect on all that is great about Queensland and do it in your own special way. We should be really, really proud of where we live and our best days lie ahead. All the best.
I encourage you to visit our Queensland Day website to check out the winners of our All the Best and Local Legends campaigns, recognising Queenslanders and local businesses who make our State great.
Have a great Queensland Day and thank you for everything you do.
