Technology requirements for distributed work centre participants

You must bring your own laptop computer, laptop charger and mobile phone when you use a DWC.

No landline desk phones, or computers are provided at the DWC.

You also need to be tech savvy and manage your own technology requirements (including troubleshooting).

Network, internet connection and printing services

High quality Wi-Fi connectivity and printing services have been installed at each DWC, providing an enhanced working experience for users. Wi-Fi and printing access is based on an agency's level of integration with the Collaborative Workspace ICT Services. Each agency is responsible for DWC user system connectivity.

Users will need to connect to their agency network through the internet using Collaborative Workspace ICT Services Wi-Fi or a data SIM card.

Computer monitors at Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore), Ipswich and Gold Coast DWC

You can connect your laptop to dual high-definition computer monitors at the Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore), Ipswich and Gold Coast DWCs. These set-ups include a docking monitor which incorporates USB-C connectivity and a built-in HD webcam.

This video shows how to connect your device to the dual monitors provided in these DWCs. This video does not apply to Cannon Hill and Logan DWCs.

Connecting to dual monitors in a Distributed Work Centre.

These dual monitors incorporate a docking station that automatically connects both monitors, USB ports and a built-in webcam with a single cable connection to your laptop or tablet.

Firstly, press the button under the bottom right of each screen to power them on. You'll notice an orange or white light to indicate power. You should also power up your device before connecting any cables.

You'll see two cables coming from the left-hand monitor. A USB-C cable, which most modern devices will have, and a USB-A cable which is suitable for older devices. Select only the appropriate cable for your device type, connect, and wait for 20 to 30 seconds for the monitors to be detected.

There is a pop-up webcam with built-in microphone on top of the left-hand monitor. Push down on it and it will spring up. In your video conference app you may need to hit the 'switch camera' icon to activate it.

The monitor should automatically detect which input you are using but you can use the input button – second from right on the left hand monitor, to cycle between USB-C and USB display link if the monitor is not detecting your device.

Now you're set up and ready to go.

Computer monitors at Cannon Hill and Logan DWC

The Cannon Hill and Logan DWCs have different computer monitors to other DWCs.

Dual high-definition computer monitors with a separate docking station are installed throughout Cannon Hill and Logan DWCs.

Laptops and tablets can be connected via USB-A and USB-C.
