Implement the Vulnerability scanning service

Learn how to implement and configure a Vulnerability scanning service cyber security service within your agency.

After you’ve completed the application process under ‘Use this service’ on the Vulnerability scanning service page, you’re ready to complete the implementation.

Consultation

The Queensland Government Cyber Security Unit (CSU) partners with RIOT Solutions, who are an authorised service provider for RAPID7's cyber security products and services. Consultation and final deployment will be performed by specialists from RIOT solutions, in collaboration with CITEC.

Once you’ve submitted the application form, a cyber security specialist from RIOT Solutions will contact you to arrange an initial consultation where the information provided will be evaluated to determine an appropriate deployment model.

Onboarding review and Health Check

There will be an Onboarding review 3 months after deployment and a Vulnerability Health Check performed every 12 months.

See our Vulnerability Health check PowerPoint presentation (PDF, 201 KB) for an overview of this service. Agencies that use the Vulnerability scanning service for more than 12 months are encouraged to book a Health Check.

Complete the online application form to book a Vulnerability Health Check.

Read the comprehensive InsightVM Security console guide to learn about key features of the console and find guidance on how to create a scan and generate reports.

InsightVM online training

The Rapid7 Academy provides a self-paced online training course for users. This course is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This course provides training on how to use the InsightVM product and features in order to support your vulnerability management program. As implementation of the InsightVM console is included as part of the service to Queensland Government entities, we recommend focusing on the ‘Overview’, ‘Scan Management’, ‘Analysis’ and ‘Remediation modules’ of the course to maximise your learning experience.

Visit the Rapid7 InsightVM course page to register.

During registration, ensure your login account email is your Queensland Government email address.

Join a Vulnerability management Community of Practice

The CSU hosts a Vulnerability Management Community of Practice (CoP) that consists of ICT professionals from Queensland Government entities who meet on a regular basis to collaborate and share information, improve their cyber security skills, and actively work on advancing their cyber security knowledge. Visit the Vulnerability Management CoP for more details (you will need to sign in to view this page).
