Procurement Capability Workforce Development Strategy 2023-2027

Summary

This strategy outlines a range of initiatives to build capability and elevate the procurement function across all agencies.

The strategy focuses on initiatives that aim to improve procurement maturity across the life of the strategy.

The strategy outlines initiatives across four pillars:

  • Attract: Initiatives focused on attracting talent to procurement and contract management roles.
  • Develop: Initiatives to develop the capability of staff undertaking procurement and contract roles across the public service.
  • Engage and retain: Initiatives focused on engaging and retaining procurement and contract management staff, so they feel valued in their roles.
  • Lead: Initiatives at a strategic level that provide development and direction for staff in leadership roles and uplift the overall capability of an agency’s procurement and contract management function.
