The Public Records Act 2023 (the Act) commenced on 5 December 2024. The new Act offers greater clarity about recordkeeping requirements, recognises the value of information as an asset and supports contemporary digital public sector services. Find out more about the Act.
Entities should continue to adhere to this policy and read it in conjunction with the new Act. This policy will be reviewed and updated in due course.
This policy outlines certain recordkeeping obligations under the Public Records Act 2002 (the Act) and sets out the principles for the use of private email and messaging applications.
